The Chaiwali selling the Tandoori Chai on Street of India, Earns Rs 45000/Month

Nisha Hussain (28), from Rajkot, has a simple success philosophy; The work you enjoy doing should be done with pride, not shame. You can make good money even from small jobs. No work is small.

Despite opposition from her family, Nisha resigned her work as a computer operator in 2017 and began selling tea from a handcart the next year. She is now known as the 'chaiwali of Rajkot,' and her booth, 'The Chailand,' sells up to ten different flavours of tea.

When a customer posted an Instagram storey of my stand that went viral, business was just getting started. Following that, people began flocking to The Chailand. It makes me very delighted when they refer to me as Rajkot's chaiwali.

A cup of normal tea costs Rs 10 at Nisha's kiosk, but flavoured teas cost Rs 30. Her best-selling item, though, is the tandoori tea, which costs Rs 40.

She also opened and closed 'The Chailand' cafe earlier this year. "she was generating at least Rs 50,000 every month till last year, but she lost a lot of money when her tea stall had to close due to the lockdowns." When the cafe still didn’t pick up business, I decided to reopen my stall and focus on making it work. After scouting prominent locations across the city, Nisha decided to open ‘The Chailand’ on Kalwar Road.?

She’s presently making around Rs 1,500 per day. She opens her stall around 7:30 am everyday because many people like to stop for chai after their morning walks. Devotees from the nearby Prem Mandir and students of Saurashtra University also drop by regularly. It has only been 10 days since she opened the stall, but as more people learn about her unique flavours through word-of mouth, customers are increasing everyday,”

Following the pandemic's second wave, Nisha began offering her services at community gatherings and exhibitions to supplement her income. She also earned a certificate of appreciation from the Rotary Club of Rajkot in December of last year.
