Chairman's Blog - Week in Review
Rossington Main FC
Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League Football Club in the Northern Counties East League Premier at Non-League step 5.
As we head into what is the biggest week in the club's history, let me take a moment to reflect on the past week's events.
There was no first-team game this week. However, this was not a week of rest for our club. Instead, it was a week of preparation and anticipation as we geared up for two monumental fixtures.
On Tuesday evening, we have the honour of hosting Emley FC in the semi-final of the league cup. This is a significant moment for us, and while not ideal with the playoff semi-final being on the Saturday, we will still aim to give it our all.
Following Tuesday's clash, our attention will swiftly turn to Saturday, where we face our toughest challenge yet - an away fixture against Garforth FC in the semi-final of the playoffs. This is undoubtedly the biggest game in the club's history, and the outcome will shape our future in ways we can only imagine.
In other news, our development team returned to winning ways with a 1-2 victory against Bentley AFC. However, the highlight of the week was undoubtedly the remarkable achievement of our open-aged ladies team. They made club history by clinching the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women and Girls League Open Age Shield with a dominant 0-3 win over Chesterfield FC Women.
As Chairman, I cannot express how proud I am of our ladies team. To achieve such success in their first year of competitive football is truly remarkable. Their dedication, hard work, and teamwork have paid off, and they have brought great honour to our club.

Off the field, it's been a week of hard work and preparation as we were selected to host the Sheffield and Hallamshire Saturday and Sunday cup finals. Thursday saw me sort the wages and team expenses and order supplies for the weekend's cup finals. On Friday evening, after work, I ran through the ground safety policy and supported weekend setup as we anticipated a really busy weekend catering for the 4 cup finals games. It was a huge operation, especially on limited resources, but as a team, we pulled together and got through it. The weekend has been a massive success for the club.
Tuesday saw me in attendance for the Developments game at home against Woodhouse Colts, which ended 0-0. Then again on Wednesday for the ladies' league game against Bentley, which ended 1-1 but a game that only ended 1 each due to some superb goalkeeping by both sides.
As we approach these pivotal moments, I want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support and dedication to our club. Whether you're a player, volunteer, or supporter, your contributions are invaluable, and I am grateful for your continued commitment.
I look forward to seeing you all at the cup semi-final on Tuesday and the playoff semi-final on Saturday. Whatever the outcome, this season has been a remarkable journey, and I am proud to be a part of it.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and here's to a successful week ahead!
