Chairman's Blog: Unveiling the Week of Progress and Preparations at Rossington Main FC!

Greetings to all club members and supporters!

Another week has passed without any games on the field, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been plenty happening behind the scenes as preparations for the upcoming season are now in full swing, and I'm excited to share some of the highlights of this week's activities with you.

On Monday evening, I attended a crucial meeting with our club secretary regarding our development team's application to join the Central Midlands Alliance League to which I'm pleased to announce that our application was approved, and we can now look forward to some exciting and competitive fixtures in the coming season.

Tuesday was all about exploring new potential sponsorship opportunities. I had productive discussions with a couple of businesses, and I'm hopeful that some promising partnerships will emerge as we delve into the finer details. These sponsorships play a vital role in supporting our club's growth and success.

Wednesday, I had a phone call with our first team manager. We covered various topics, including preseason plans and strategies. I find it crucial to stay connected and aligned as we prepare for the challenges ahead. In the evening, I attended the Annual General Meeting for both our girls' teams and again I'm thrilled to announce that both teams have been elected to their respective leagues for the upcoming season. We've assembled a strong line-up in our open age group, and I believe they will make a mark in the league.

Thursday was a day of deliveries and meetings. We received a generous delivery of paint from our girls' training kit sponsor, Brewers Paints. This will greatly support our ongoing ground refresh during the offseason. Additionally, I had a meeting with another sponsor who is looking to provide some temporary fencing for this year's summer camps.

Friday was dedicated to financial matters. I reviewed the club's accounts, which had been prepared by our accountant, before submitting them to the league as per the annual requirement.

Non-league football presents its fair share of challenges, and at Rossington Main, we strive to achieve financial sustainability and we have made remarkable progress, but it remains an ongoing challenge. As we heavily rely on sponsorship and off-season donations, we warmly welcome anyone interested in investing in sponsorship opportunities or making general donations. If you'd like to support us, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Any contribution would make a significant difference to our club.

Friday I also took the opportunity to I have a brief chat over a lunchtime coffee at the ground with the first team assistant manager to discuss equipment needs as our first team players return to training next week.

Saturday began with an early visit to the ground, where I spent time chatting with and supporting our dedicated volunteers in their various tasks. Later in the day, I then travelled to Harrogate for the league's Annual General Meeting, marking the closure of last season and the start of the new one. I also attended the evening event dinner, where I had the opportunity to network and connect with fellow team officials.

Looking ahead to the coming week, I have my regular catch-ups with club officials scheduled. I'll be attending training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, meeting with both the manager and players to discuss their return and also continuing to oversee our ongoing ground preparations. Additionally, I'll be working on setting up our club's Annual General Meeting, an important event where we reflect on the past and plan for the future.

In other exciting news, I'm delighted to share that we will be competing in this year's FA Cup following our promotion. The first round is set to take place on August 5th, and we couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of this prestigious competition.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to all of you for your unwavering support and for reading my weekly updates. It's heartwarming to receive so many messages from people who enjoy learning about the behind-the-scenes efforts that go into running our football club.

Together, let's continue to build a strong and successful future for Rossington Main FC. Your support means the world to us.
