Chairman's Blog: Reflecting on Progress and Pushing Forward
Rossington Main FC
Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League Football Club in the Northern Counties East League Premier at Non-League step 5.
Another eventful week has passed at Rossington Main FC, filled with highs, lows, and everything in between. Let me walk you through the highlights.
The week kicked off with a tough away game for our first team against Silsden FC midweek, resulting in a 2-1 loss. Despite the defeat, I saw promising signs of improvement in our performance. It's never easy to lose, especially after a long and cold journey back home, but our resilience remains unwavering.
Saturday brought a crucial 6-pointer match against Thackley FC, where we secured a vital 2-0 win, propelling us to 4th place in the league table. The lads showcased incredible determination under pressure, and I couldn't be prouder of their efforts.
Unfortunately, Sunday's weather forced us to relocate our ladies' game against Brunsmeer Athletic Women FC to their ground due to the unplayable conditions at Oxford Street. Despite the change of venue, our team fought hard but ultimately faced a 2-0 defeat against the table-toppers.
Off the pitch, much of our focus has been on completing the catering build in time for the weekends grand opening. With dedicated efforts from our volunteers, we have also successfully added a turnstile to our entrance this week, addressing a crucial point in our recent ground grading report.
I've also been working closely with our first-team manager to address our goal-scoring challenges, particularly in light of Ross Hannah's injury. Despite financial constraints, we managed to secure a promising deal, bringing in Sheffield United’s Cameron Archer's brother, Lewis, until the end of the season. It's a move that benefits both parties and adds depth to our squad.

Friday brought insightful discussions with the first-team manager ahead of the weekend's game, aligning our strategies for the final push towards the playoffs. Saturday was a memorable day as we celebrated the grand opening of our new cafe unit. The day was brilliant, and the positive feedback on the food and build from fans was overwhelming. We also had the pleasure of hosting one of our generous sponsors, who funded the catering unit roof install and it was geat to show him how his money was spent to which he was delighted and also then committed to me in supporting us in our next project for which I am extremely grateful and it’s because of people and companies like his that keep us moving forward.
Sunday concluded with me attending the ladies' reverse fixture, reaffirming my commitment to supporting all our teams.
Finally thank you as always for taking the time to stay updated with our progress.
Your unwavering support is the driving force behind our club's success. Stay tuned for more exciting updates next week.
