Chairman's Blog - Perfect Weekend

This week saw the first team back at home against Nostell in a game that they went on to win comfortably 5-1 in a match that saw Brad Grayson take the match ball home after his impressive first half hat-trick in front of over 200+ spectators.

The result was so pleasing as Nostell are a tough tricky side who habe been on a great run and in addition we also had our star man Ross Hannah out this week due to injury as well as his strike partner Jack Watson also.

The first team are now 20 points clear in the playoff positions from the sixth placed team and we now aim for a second or third placed finish, yet stranger things have happened in football and if by any chance Campion or Harrogate drop points we hope to run them all the way to the last game of the season but all we can now do is concentrate on our own games with six left to play.

Our Devlopment side also ran out 1-4 winners away at Bentley in a game that now sees them through to semi-final of the Eco Power Group sponsored Doncaster Rovers Saturday League KO Cup.

Then on Sunday our newley formed Ladies team made history with their first ever win at Oxford Street wining 5-0 against Dearne & District ladies fc with ex Donaster Belles player Lauren Breen's hat-trick and brace from Sevin Azimi.

Off the field, Monday saw me catchup with the Vice Chairman and Club Treasurer over a coffee to plan the weeks activities and review the clubs finances which where running low due to some high energy bills in addition to the clubs monthly direct debit bills which also came out as we entered March.

We also paid our FA Cup and FA Vase entrance fees for next season as well as having to purchase several pairs of new socks for the Development side after sock gate last weekend when several pairs had gone missing.

Wednesday then saw me catchup with the first teams Assistant Manager to organise training on Thursday then Thursday saw me attend training where I also took the opportunity to catch up with the First Team Manager and our Director of Football.

Saturday was game day so I was at the ground early as normal to support game day preparations as well as taking the time to chat with the clubs volunteers.

Saturday was a really busy day and we had a bigger than expected crowd exceeding 200+ which is fantastic and really supports the clubs revenue and this week I managed to get away for about 18:30 but several of our other volunteers worked late into the evening as the bar was really busy until late this week.

Sunday again saw me down at the ground early preparing for the ladies game and myself and the Vice Chairman had to take an early morning trip to the suppliers to get some additonal stock in for the day following the busy Saturday.

This week sees me away with work for the majority of the week but I do aim to attend training on Thursday where I will catchup with the First Team Manager and Director of Football as normal and our club volunteers will also be down most days carrying out general maintenance and cleaning tasks.

I will also need to pay a club fine at some point as we have been reported by a league official for not using the substitution board at our away game at Campion last week and while I did not notice if we did or not being honest we will take the punishment and pay the £50 fine and our Director Of Football has warned the coaching staff to ensure this is used and I can confirm this was used for all substitutions this week.
