Chairman's Blog - Massive character
Rossington Main FC
Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League Football Club in the Northern Counties East League Premier at Non-League step 5.
Massive show in character from the lads this week firstly on the road on Wednesday evening and after going a goal down but coming back in style to beat Horbury Town FC in a six-goal thriller at Slazengers Sports Club wining 2-4 and then again on Saturday after also going a goal and man down in the opening nine minutes but coming through with a 2-5 away victory at Retford FC.
The commitment, desire and our never give up attitude was evident to all watching and both these wins are massive in our playoff chase as both games were against clubs wanting to finish the season in the playoffs and with that said I am delighted with where we currently are against our season objectives.
Saturday also saw a thumping 5-0 win for our Devlopement side at home in front of a near on 100 spectators against AFC Bentley in the Quarter Final of the Dawson & Burgess sponsored Doncaster & District FA Challenge Cup and we now progress into the Semi Final.
Off the field this week saw me secure some funding for our ladies team from the local councillor on Monday evening and is funding that will really support the girls and enable us to purchase winter training attire and equipment as well as enabling us to extend our open training sessions by an extra session per week.
Tuesday I had calls with club officials and organised transportation for ensuring the teams kit and equipment would make it to Horbury for our game on Wednesday evening.
Wednesday was game day away to Horbury FC which I made the 50 miniute drive myself for this one due to being delayed with work commitments but was pleased to make it in time for K.O and also in enough time to speak to the opposing team officials and Chairman pre-game.
Wednesday evening also saw me catchup with the clubs Secretary, Vice Chairman, Director of Football and the clubs Groundsman who was also in attendance at the game.

I also took the time to chat with several of our loyal supporters who follow us home and away and its great to see the support especially at away games on what was a cold midweek evening.
Thursday saw me have my weekly call with the first team Manager where we discussed the squad, the weekends game, injuries and in addition started early conversations about next season and what we would like to do but more on this after the season.
Saturday I was at the ground from half 9 to support the clubs volunteers with preparations for the Devlopment sides game and also ensure all the First Teams kit was ready to make its way to Retford for the first teams game.
We have some amazing volunteers at the club and the work they do should never be under estimated and I am so proud that our club attracts really good people to support and more pleasing that we are also attracting the younger generations and I put this down to the cluture and going out of our way in supporting our team with life skills, giving them their own jobs and responsibilities and training in an environment where we all work toegther and support each other and this culture we have instilled is the reason why I believe we are currently doing so well.
This week will see me catchup with the clubs treasuer on Monday to go through the weekends incomings and expediture and also with our team of volunteers who are supporting with a kids half term activity camp.
Tuesday we have a home game against Beverley FC in what will be another important tough game however now not a must win but one we would like to get something from.
This week will also see me working on trying to bring a player in for the manager that requires international clearance and in additon I will have my weekly meetings with club officials.
