Chairman's Blog - Another 3 Points

This week saw the first team at home again for the second week in a row against Dronfield FC which they won 3-1 in a match that saw Jack Watson score a second half brace on 84 and 87 minutes in front of 222 spectators.

The home crowds this year have been absolutely incredible and we are now averaging circa 33% up on the previous year which I put down to the great football on offer and the overall match day expirence that we put on as a club and as such I am confident there is no better Saturday entertainment anywhere in the local area for the same price as our £5 gate entrance fee.

There is not better place or feeling than seeing a packed Oxford Street cheering on any of our teams and the support really does make a difference to the teams and is the one reason why we focus so much on the overall match expirence and our facilities.

Our Devlopment side also ran out 0-6 winners over at the Ecopower stadium against Denaby United FC that now sees them through to final of the Eco Power Group sponsored Doncaster Rovers Saturday League KO Cup.

There was no game for our ladies this week but the mood in this camp is extremely positive after last weeks massive win.

Off the field not that much to report this week due to being away most of the week with work but Monday saw me have a few telephone calls with the Vice Chairman and Club Secretary to discuss the weeks activities while I was away and get an overview of last weekends income and expenditure.

Thursday I had a call with the first teams Assistant Manager to discuss training and preparations for the weekends game.

Friday I had a call with Rotherhams Ladies Assistant Manager who is intrested in arranaging a friendly with our ladies team in the next few weeks and is something we are now trying to facilitate.

Saturday was game day so I was down at the club early to support the game day setup and as always I took the time to speak to all the club volunteers that were also down and in addiotn I had a chat with the first team manager as we discussed budgets for the remainder of the season and the pending transfer window closure.

This week will see me have my normal meetings with club officials and also make plans to move our development team from the Doncaster League to the Central Midlands league for next season and finalise our plans for an over 35s team for next season also.
