Chairing London's Child Obesity Task Force

On Friday The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan announced that I was to lead his new independent Child Obesity Task Force as chair. I can't explain how excited, honoured and energised I am by the opportunity to make a real difference to tens of thousands of London's children through leading the Task Force in aiming to create a major health breakthrough and therefore set these children's future on a different trajectory. I was even more delighted when the world renowned childhood obesity expert academic Professor Corinna Hawkes of City University of London agreed to join me as Vice Chair. We will now appoint the Task Force members and begin work with determination and a promise of a unique approach.
I'll use LinkedIn to share developments, solicit ideas and build momentum over the coming 2 years whilst pledging to bring an entrepreneurial, 'why not', mindset to the Task Force and its responsibilities to help change the obesogenic environment that unduly controls so many people's choices and lives.

6 年Congratulations! That's a huge responsibility you just got. You need to educate parents, future parents, babysitters and preschool / kindergarten teachers because for the first 6 years or so, everything is up to them. The other side of the coin is what's available in the stores and restaurants and at what prices -- here in Poland you need to look with a magnifying glass for healthy foods and ingredients in much of the market (although some chains such as Lidl are slowly upping their game).
