Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes, turn and face the strange
Apparently something is happening in the UK next week and there seems to be buzz for change from many but also a malise from many others. So, like my local brewery in this week's image is having a bit of fun with it. I've tasted them all and they are delicious.
The choices the British voting public make on July 4th will impact the country for the next 5 years.
So whilst AI buzz is still going strong on LinkedIn and in the news. There's no mention in manifestos (that I have seen) about AI. That shows the direct impact AI is having right now on the public and its perception more broadly.
Pro tip: If you want to win an election, then you should promise to fix pot holes.
One thing I haven't seen much of on social media or in the news is the expected torrent of disinformation driven by AI. That's not to say that it isn't happening of course. But big tech is seemingly doing a good job of stopping/slowing this down. Let me know if I've missed something.
All that said, this Financial Times opinion piece from January said. "Forget technology — politicians pose the gravest misinformation threat" so whilst everything has changed, nothing really has. Yet, anyway. It's in the US that we will see the biggest potential for misuse, the UK and other democracies will be a test bed for the main event.
All that said, Steve Endacott has an AI standing in Brighton. AI Steve is an interesting concept and you can read more about it here. I've been chatting to AI Steve about potholes and Stan The App , it makes sense for them to become friends.
In my 5 minutes with AI Steve, I found it no better or worse that a normal politician, it, much like AI more broadly is trying to please with it's responses, but the accessibility and transparency is refreshing.

I enjoyed our chat. Good luck AI Steve (I think), you seem like a nice future AI overlord. :)
Audience research has no doubt helped political parties shape their manifestos and 'contracts'. This takes me nicely into Rand Fishkin , Michael King and Amanda Natividad 's webinar yesterday about the recent Google search leaks and what that means for businesses and content.
It's fascinating and worth a watch of the recording, even if you are not an SEO expert and don't know your H1 from your H3's.
Anyway, the sun is shining and the kids want to go out, so that's me this week. Good luck England, and at least there's always Glastonbury on the telly box if we are rubbish again.
You might think I'd drop a Bowie song at this point due to the title of this week's newsletter, but no. I'm giving you a Breakfast cereal with three words I never thought I would see together. I'm looking forward to seeing them next week.
Did not land in my inbox but it did land in my feed at least ?? It’s not sunny at all here so I’m off to fall into a ‘Google Search Leak’ rabbit hole for the rest of my Saturday (with either football or Glastonbury on in the background) ??

5 个月Allow me to add a Bowie pastiche from a few years back. Rather than change the world I now focus on myself...but thought this worth sharing. Time (T = I + Me) Will I + Me find memories waiting in the wings Or take centre stage where I + Me speaks of senseless things.? The script is I + Me, aye. I + Me might be a temporal flux, flexing like a whore Then I + Me falls like Onan to the floor Laaah, la,la, la laaa, la la la-la Laaah, la, la, la,? Latent talent? We can provide the right culture to help staff at all levels apply their latent aspirations to meet the blatant & critical business needs that our organisations will face over the next few regardless of which party is on power!
