?Chatelard? Concept Study Assignment for Swiss Federal Railways (SBB)
50 years ago, SBB built a new pump storage plant alongside an existing plant, which is now 100 years old. Feeder pumps powered by a train traction motor and regulated by a transformer with a tap changer were installed in the sub-basement of the new plant. The transformer was powered by the 15 kV auxiliary supply of the existing plant.
The old power plant is going to be decommissioned, the 15 kV switchgear removed, and the motor and transformer technology is at the end of its life cycle. Therefore, INP Schweiz designed a new power supply concept with a 132kV/16.7 Hz feeder and successfully developed a technically sound and simple solution that enhances long-term environmental sustainability.

1 年Congratulations INP Schweiz ! I believe that as a renewable impacts increase in the Europe, maintaining stability and reliability of grid by providing adequate frequency control capabilities become a challenge and pumped storage plants play on very important role future grid and ancillary service mechanisms.
