Chateau du Bouilh, I walk by it every day with the dogs, it's beautiful.

The castle Bouilh belongs to Jean Frederic de La Tour du Pin Gouvernet, Count of Paulin, Marquis de La Roche Chalais and Cenevières, Earl of Chastelard, viscount of Tesson and Ambleville, viscount of Calvignac, Baron de Cubzac and the Cubzaguais, lord of Formorville. He was a lieutenant general of the armies of the King in 1781. The half-ruined castle Bouilh could agree to such a character that smiled increasingly royal favor, and one day as Jean Frederic de Pin Government solicited Louis XVI to appear in their province of Guyenne, and the latter has replied "But there is no castle to receive me! "The field marshal resolved to offer his king a stay worthy of him.

He immediately got in touch with the architect Victor Louis had just designed for  Bordeaux its Grand Theatre, object of general admiration. Building work was underway when the lord of Cubzaguais was appointed deputy to the states General in 1789 by the nobility of Saintonge and went to Paris where he was appointed minister of war by Louis XVI. In this turbulent period, not to be suspected of using the funds of the State, the Minister stopped immediately the construction of the castle.

The Chateau sits empty and I can't believe it, it's so beautiful even just being half way finished, I hope one day someone will buy it and restore it back to its original beauty.
