Gain inspiration from their stories to propel your career. Here’s Morgan Yuen’s story.
During the pandemic, I had time to think about my career, professional development, and how I wanted to make a positive influence in Hong Kong. I was drawn to the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation because of its comprehensive curriculum that would equip me with necessary skills that are applicable in various industries.
The CGMA designation goes beyond teaching business theory and prepared me with a real-world approach.
More than one pathway. You get to choose.
As I work towards my CGMA designation at my own pace through the Self-tailored Learning Pathway, I can thoroughly review the detailed CGMA syllabus and study resources. I know where I struggle, and I can spend extra time reviewing these topics and ultimately go into the exams confidently. The programme’s syllabus, created by The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), is comprehensive and future-forward, and I know I’m learning sought-after skills for today’s workforce.
So far, I earned the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting (CIMA Adv Dip MA), won several awards through this programme, and have now completed 13 out of 16 papers in the Self-tailored Learning Pathway to the CGMA designation.
To pass the case study exams, I’m required to simulate different workplace roles and respond to corresponding scenarios. I realised I needed to prioritise how to apply the knowledge and theories I am learning to everyday business situations.
The time I've spent studying is worth it. The CGMA designation is globally recognised and achieving it indicates proficiency in finance, operations, strategy, and management. Earning this designation and becoming a CIMA member will enable be to stay connected to the global AICPA & CIMA community, learning modules, webcasts and conferences equipping me with the needed skillsets to be successful in Hong Kong and on the global stage.
