CFE : Is it a real professional qualification or .... else !!

• When you hear someone saying I just passed the CFE, most of us will be asking "you took the exam at home, right?" Well, this is not the case and we shouldn't be looking to it from such narrow angel.
• Upon evaluating any professional qualification;we need to ask four questions; who is the governing body, what study or preparation platform is available, what are the topics or contents of the qualification and finally exam related questions.
• The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (the CFE governing body - ACFE) is perceived as one of the most active body responsible for promoting not just the qualification but the awareness of the various types of fraud, financial crime and how to create an anti-fraud framework, environment and policies. The Fraud Examiners manual (FEM) issued by the ACFE is the definitive body of knowledge for the anti-fraud profession, providing comprehensive guidance for anti-fraud professionals that no other work can match.
• The ACFE came out with an interactive online studying platform of 1500 MCQ over the 4 topics; it enables candidates to cover the 4 parts in an easy way while tracking performance through progress tests prior to sitting for the real exam. Candidates can practice MCQs, mark them for review, sort by new questions or questions mistakenly solved. It hosts the 4 practice exam which you have to solve & score 85% at least to obtain the guarantee pass.
• If we take a thorough look over the FEM chapters; you will find it is almost the exam contents, 4 topics representing the core of qualification; Fraud Prevention/Deterrence, Financial Transactions/Fraud Schemes, Investigation and Law. People with legal background will dive easily in the two later topics while those with financial and audit background will enjoy the 1st two papers.
• Finally, there are four online exams; each exam is allowing 75 seconds only for each MCQ. Don't expect you will find the same exact questions you practiced on the studying platform, you will find similar questions in form but not in substance, it will be tackling different angel. It is very crucial you master the MCQ available on the platform database, know why the other options are not correct; by this you will be prepared enough for nearly similar MCQs.
