?? Female Health & Hygiene in Kenya, Uganda, & Ghana
1 in 10 girls in Sub-Saharan Africa misses school due to lack of menstrual hygiene products!
To address this issue, we’re implementing the Female Health and Hygiene Accelerator (FHHA), supporting 10 high-potential menstrual health enterprises in Uganda, Kenya and Ghana to get investment-ready.
In October, the FHHA’s first bootcamp took place in Kenya, focused on designing acceleration strategies to scale impact and address the period poverty gap in last mile communities.

?? Driving Innovation: Colombia Hackathon 2024
Over 47 young professionals teamed up with rural water organisations in Colombia to co-create solutions at our Hackathon 2024! They aim to solve water and sanitation challenges in real-time.
The winning teams are now collaborating with local communities to implement their innovations, showcasing the power of open innovation to address rural WASH challenges.
The hackathon is in partnership with Inter-American Development Bank , Young Water Solutions , and the Universidad de Antioquia
?? Majifund Pilot: Shaping the Future of WASH Enterprises in East Africa
On the sidelines of?Stockholm World Water Week,?we brought together?WASH funders, investors and enterprises in an event centred around efforts to develop a?MajiFund, an enterprise development mechanism with the goal to prepare WASH businesses for future investment. The pilot programme, running until 2026, currently active in?Ghana,?Uganda, and?Kenya, is a pioneering initiative focused on post-acceleration laying the groundwork for a full-scale launch in 2027.
We also unveiled a new publication, Scaling Blueprints for Water Supply Business Models , offering valuable insights into the support required for different water supply business models at various stages of growth.

?? Green Business Development Services: Driving Resource Efficiency in Jordan
Over 100 companies and 40 service providers are joining forces with Cewas and Chemonics Egypt to bring resource-efficient practices to Jordan’s industrial sector. Part of the GIZ Green Action in Enterprises (GAIN) project, this initiative is pushing sustainable production to the forefront.
These efforts will lead to capacity-building activities, supporting the adoption of resource-efficient production practices across the manufacturing sector. Cleaner industries, better futures!

WaterQuip Uganda Limited is a female-led enterprise providing chemical-free water purification solutions to schools and healthcare facilities across Uganda. They’re improving access to clean water for over 350,000 children daily, preventing waterborne diseases like diarrhoea and typhoid. Cleaner water, healthier kids, brighter futures!
?? Green Shovel in Iraq
Green Shovel is transforming agriculture in Iraq with cutting-edge technology that goes beyond profit. They’ve saved 123 million litres of water and 919,000 kWh of energy annually, while reducing CO2e emissions. Plus, 1,500 users have adopted their smart irrigation, greenhouses, and fertility systems, with over 53% seeing income growth.

Using the analogy of a soccer team, it proposes 37 strategic “plays” to activate and empower ecosystems. This is the ultimate manual to drive systemic change in the water and sanitation sector!
