Cewas Highlights the Transformative Success Story of Ainda Agricultural Centre
Zurich, Switzerland – Cewas, the world's first organisation exclusively focused on supporting impact entrepreneurs in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), proudly announces the success story of Ainda, an innovative initiative making significant strides in Penjween & Halabja, as featured on the newly revamped Cewas website.
Ainda's Remarkable Journey and Impact
In 2021, the Water and Energy for Food Grand Challenge for Development (WE4F), with Cewas as a consortium partner, began supporting Ainda in its growth transformation towards increased impact and innovation. This collaboration facilitated access for Ainda to vital technical and financial support as well as critical networks in the agri-value chain.
Ainda has developed a solar-powered smart-drip root watering system that enables farmers to use water more efficiently in agricultural production. This innovative system has significantly reduced water consumption by 60% to 70%, based on plant types. The integration of solar power has also helped overcome electricity shortages required for pumping and irrigation distribution.
Ainda provided services to farmers, benefiting over 7,500 smallholder farmers and end-users employ Ainda’s energy and water-efficient innovations.
31,200 tons of food produced and processed, all powered by WE4F innovation. With resource efficiency, Ainda’s efforts saved 6.2 million kWh of energy and reduced water consumption by 657 million litres in the food value chain.
The impact success story looks into the economical, environmental impacts, production and processing strides, the financial growth and much more.
"Ainda's journey with WE4F and Cewas led to financial and technical progress, fostering innovation in sustainable food production across regions with shared ESG values and community collaboration.” said Abubakr Omer Rahim, Ainda's Founder.
