CESC serves tirelessly to restore power to Kolkata households

My CESC colleagues who belong to my larger RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group family, and my fellow citizens (includes CESC employees/ workers too) - both are important for me.
I have seen and heard about the extreme situations faced by my CESC colleagues over the last six days. Some of them, whom I personally know, are specialised engineers/ senior officers.
Like my fellow citizens, my CESC colleagues were also under immense pressure (mainly due to lockdown/ lack of manpower) and were subjected to lot of pain. One needs to hear their stories too.
In such conditions, when I am aware of the sufferings of both the sides, I would genuinely feel for all, and also express gratitude to our CESC employees/ workers instead of getting angry.
Yes, the citizens would get angry when they are suffering but one should try to know the actual story too, and then react. Road obstructions and protests against CESC employees/ workers was not the correct solution.
And yet there were many who have thanked our employees/ workers on site for the tireless efforts that they have put in. One must understand that Amphan and lockdown have affected them too.
So I did not mind requesting people, on my own, to be patient with our CESC colleagues even if it seemed that I am defending them blindly like a dutiful employee or maybe because I have a relative working there.
Quite a few of us, from the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group family, chose not to run away or disappear. Instead, we tried to bring out the truth on our facebook wall for all because we had seen both the citizens and our colleagues were suffering.
And, at the same time, I (alongwith other colleagues) chose to write about the problems faced by our citizens, on the right platform i.e. the CESC facebook page and - internally - to our colleagues there so that it could be instantly addressed. Writing only on my own wall wouldn't have given any solutions to our citizens. Our CESC colleagues were helpless too due to the challenges that they were facing but they had tried their level best.
For them, their sense of duty was more important than anything else even when they and their relatives were without power and water supplies at their homes for four consecutive nights after Amphan had created havoc on the city.
One must have respect for that attitude!!
Bloomberg news
4 年CESC is looting its consumers by exploiting the monopoly it enjoys over power supply in the Kolkata and its adjoining areas. For every 100 units of electricity, the charges of CESC are the highest in the country. In many states, the price of the first 100 units are absolutely free. But CESC buys power at Rs 4.26 and sells it at a price of Rs 7.33 (first 100 units). The same company while doing business in Tamil Nadu sells power at Rs 4.90 per unit and in Rajasthan, they sell at Rs 6 per unit, Time has come for immediate reduction in power tariff so that it is at par with other states and floating of global tender to bring competition in the market...& PR is no substitute for facts....
India and Indian taking a path to manage and run the system, its corporate or political through branding and marketing, except Armed Force, they work without any advertisement, without any PR, without any media attention, everyone knows NDRF, Indian Army was in line with CESC to normalize the power , in terms of distribution, rectifying line fault, re installed toppled tower but neither NDRF nor Indian Army advertise their contribution to restore Great Kolkata......but Politician and corporate house started to claim, who was supported during this state calamity , whose score is more, who stood first.....

4 年Cesc has given temporary power in my area....and there is no clue as to when we can turn on our ACs!!! There is no one at the complaints cell and the person who restored the temporary power....almost gave us a warning that if anyone turns on AC then power will be cut and then we wont receive any help from them again! Pathetic service....and pathetic brand.
