CES 2018 - The future in-vehicle experience
Innovation like we see at CES is pushing automakers to rethink the business of auto making—from hardware and software platforms to vehicle ownership models to a person’s mobility experience.
Cars today are app-filled computers on wheels, and the pace of adding electronics to vehicles is speeding up. Practically the Silenium QB (Quiet Bubble) technology is involved with small PCB electronic board, few microphones and sensors installed in strategic locations as well as integrated speakers in the head rest of each passenger.
Main reason why the Silentium ANC technology is been adapted by automakers is the Light-Weighting - by reducing great amount of passive materials, building cars and trucks that are less heavy as a way to achieve better fuel efficiency and handling.
When asked by the LA Times about the biggest challenge facing the auto industry, Mark Allen, head of Fiat Chrysler’s Jeep design division, told the media “just keeping up,” and mentioned everything from user experience, to material advancements, to new age powertrains, to “light-weighting,” or up integration or designing with next-gen materials and solutions to reduce vehicle weight without sacrificing functions or safety.
Autonomous capabilities and advanced driver and passengers experience, are also good reason to implement Active Noise reduction Technology within the car.

7 年In psychoacoustics, the influence of vibrations on the human body is analyzed, not only the audible frequencies are very important, but also those structural vibrations that go directly to the body. It can generate anxiety until tranquility where both can be dangerous in extremes, we must also take into account that hearing is important for the alert state in cases of incidents, of course a silent vehicle is what we all want.

7 年Jeff, totally agree with your comment and this is why we are able to handle and reduce mainly road noise as our first priority.

7 年Sound wears you out. The louder the sound the more fatigue you experience in shorter time. I wonder what my Tesla 3 will sound like.......mostly tire noise I guess.
