Certainty vs Uncertainty

I'm excited to share a powerful insight I recently discovered while being coached by the awesome Liz Hoskin.....

Certainty CREATES energy.

Uncertainty DRAINS energy.

When I threw myself full-time into coaching, I didn't realise it at the time, but I created too much uncertainty for myself.

Coming out of Mindful Talent's transformative Trusted Coach programme, I'd read a brilliant book, The Prosperous Coach (Thank you for that kind gift Aileen!) and felt like I needed to offer "bespoke" coaching. The issue was I didn't yet have the confidence and certainty to do this authentically.

I was showing up with hesitation and doubt when it came to the contracting part of a coaching conversation.

This lead to numerous mistakes and missed opportunities.

Uncertainty can cause hesitation, doubt, fear, anxiety and stress. Feelings that drain our energy.

Certainty creates confidence, belief & trust, not just in ourselves, but in our clients too. It creates energy and enables us to tap into our passion and desire if it comes from an authentic space.

I believe there is a balance to be struck between the two, particularly when it comes to embracing possibility. We need to be prepared to move into uncertainty, into fear and doubt in order to grow, but we can do this with certainty, with confidence and energy.

So this insight lead me to ask myself "how can I create certainty for myself?"

For a start I realised I needed some certainty around my pricing and business model.

Certainty that didn't exist until recently.

I enrolled 2 new clients last week.

For the first time the conversations were seamless.

I coached powerfully and gave them best coaching experience I could.

When the time came, I asked if they would like to do more and when they said "yes, what do we do next?", I spoke with a degree of certainty that hadn't been present before.

I felt I could powerfully serve them in that moment.

Contracting isn't a drain for me any more.

I'm still buzzing about it and massively energised!!
