A CEO's LinkedIn Profile & Company Page Transformation (Amazing Results!)

Today I am revealing the final product for a Business and Cyber Intelligence company and its CEO. But first, let's explore the importance of how important it is for company executives to have a stellar profile regardless of whether or not they will be using LinkedIn for any direct outreach or marketing.

Profile Statistics

Here are a few essential stats for branding and showcasing your company on LinkedIn.

  • Google is your friend! People will do their due diligence when someone refers you or your company and "Google" you. LinkedIn is an authority site, according to Google. In most cases, your profile and company page will appear in search results above your company website and other social media or news.
  • Your profile views skyrocket to 21x more! LinkedIn statistics show that members with a photo receive far more engagement with 21x more profile views and 9x more connection requests. How's that for organic opportunity? So, ditch the company logo, vacation photo, or even the newest trend, cartoon photos. Want to stand out more? Add color and/or colorful rings.
  • Keywords, Keywords, Keywords! Did you know that LinkedIn is a robust search engine? Begin brainstorming these keywords by thinking like your prospect and brain dump words or long-tail keywords that your ideal prospect might type in the search bar to find your products or services that solve their problems.
  • Copywriting Anyone? This is the new LinkedIn. Instead of just using your keywords to get found, try brushing up on your copywriting skills and using hooks and benefit statements (still using your keywords) in the headline of all your profile sections. Profiles that use this strategy stand out and outperform the competition.
  • Please don't set it and forget it! Still using that 20-year-old photo, or haven't updated your profile since 2011? As your business grows or changes, so should your profile. Update to reflect new products, services, and clients you work with. As a bonus, you can have LinkedIn alert your connections when you update your About Summary and Work Experience. How's that for free marketing and branding?

Before & After Transformation

When I had my first conversation with Greg, it was pretty refreshing to hear that he wanted to have a strong profile when potential clients found him organically. He felt it was an essential part of his branding and marketing campaign. And I couldn't agree more!

UPDATE: Greg received an offer to be the interim CEO of a start-up in Tuscon, only halfway working through his profile. The updated edits got his profile noticed, "viewed," and trusted, which prompted the offer.

This was his original profile before we started working with him. Below is the after.

See the difference? We used color, copywritten headlines, tag lines, keywords, and a head and shoulders photo in an outfit that he would wear to meet a potential client. And this was just the start.

Before we started working with Greg, he didn't have an About Summary (no before photo). Here is his after:

What a difference, right? Again, we used all the elements shared above. We not only created a client-facing (in this case targeting new clients) copy to draw them in on what to expect if they worked with Greg's corporate intelligence company, but we told a short story about his successes. Therefore bringing the H2H (human to human) to your profile.

I could add more and more photos of the before and after, but I want to share one more before this article gets too long.

The difference is night and day. Again we used keywords, some copywriting techniques, color, and other strategies, including creating and optimizing a company page and a logo refresh.

Tool Time with Tracy

I have a designer for doing background photos and company banners. For those of you do-it-yourselfers, we LOVE Canva.com . I suggest getting a pro account. It's super cheap ($13 per month), and I use it for everything design. I created my article photo with Canva and the ring around Greg's profile picture.

Want someone to do it for you and on a budget? I like Fiverr.com . They have grown up over the years, and you can find someone to do just about anything you need there. Just don't use them for profile makeovers (wink, wink). They don't do them as we do!

Gossip Garden
