CEO's and Executives Share Their Thoughts in 2023.

CEO's and Executives Share Their Thoughts in 2023.

I have never taken for granted those moments in time when somebody says something profound that catches your attention. It can feel as if it’s arriving at the perfect time and only for you to figure out what to do with it. It causes you to stop, think and reflect. Do you take action and to what effect? The statement/s simply come to life with little to no effort, even if it’s a spin on an existing idea. That’s the point though. Someone has invested themselves in an idea to shape it and make it their own. In my book, that’s to be respected. I have been fortunate to have had numerous such experiences in conversation with leaders across the globe in 2023.

I have gone through my vault and am sharing the more powerful comments here with myriad subjects surrounding human endeavors. While context is often important, I have chosen to let each individual statement stand by themselves. What’s invaluable to me is that they likely carry meaning for all of us differently. I sincerely hope they resonate with/for you and facilitate meaningful self-discovery as they have for me. (NOTE: I have bolded every other comment made for the sake of clarity.)

Just because you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean it’s not real or not valuable.

Assumptions are the killer of progress.

Patience lies in abandoning expectations and staying true to your path with the understanding that what you are doing is right, and will prove itself out in the end. In many ways it's the willingness to lose the battle in order to win the war. The "long-term" is the ultimate goal.

It is less important where people stand on an absolute scale – more important is how the different people stand absolute to each other.

What’s complicated is rarely important and what’s important is rarely complicated.

One observation I have made that I think may contribute to this "knowledge" gap is that people seem to behave in two modes, home and work and don't leverage the experiences of one into the other.....they almost actively block it on a subliminal level.....which on one hand I can understand for work/life balance but on another level makes no sense to me.....if I got it, I use it :-)

The entrepreneur in me thrives on disrupting markets and even more fun than that is raising the bar and bringing teams along the journey and even taking them into the "deepest waters of the ocean" and watching them accomplish what they once thought was impossible.

Learning is a dynamic process that involves awareness, experience, and a feedback loop.

It strikes me that many senior appointments and role specs talk about “emotional intelligence” – and yet it appears leadership is somehow afraid to exercise it during a search, or simply forgets to leverage it, looking instead to more empirical data.

It’s the creation and integration of multiple disciplines, orchestrated in unison, and focused on a singular, strategy and vision, that achieves dramatic success.

I'd like to provide another view of "Integrated Foresight." As a Strategic Executor oscillates between mind and body, they connect the dots, and as time passes, a fabric of connected dots (or a more precise picture) emerges.?This formation of fabric validates their strategy and execution to continue to thrive.?Taking the analogy further-?Once this fabric is ready, they search for another opportunity, a?place to create new fabric.?

It's not whether you make the right choice or not. It's that you make a choice, and then you make it right.

How many times has the phrase “it’s complicated” been uttered as a justification for inertia at best or failure at worst across a wide spectrum of Human endeavor.

Last, but not least, I’ve recently come across Master chef Marco Pierre White. He’s the chef that trained Gordon Ramsey. That should tell you something. One person was quoted on line as saying: This dude learned the meaning of life by staring into a frying pan. In one segment he shares: Look at each individual ingredient for what it is. Not for what you want it to be. Never allow the obvious to blind you. Look at it for what it is. Be honest with yourself.

I’d obviously like to thank those genuine and authentic leaders who trusted me enough to share these thoughts. In an environment where ‘business speak’ prevails, its often hard to get to the heart of the matter. That’s what I hear in these comments.

In final, it’s my belief the greatest present we can give ourselves is the gift of learning. The question is: How much learning is actually remembering? Thank you for reminding me why I do what I do. It’s a real privilege!

Keep On!

I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone individually for responding here or offline: Rudy, Andrew, Christine, Donna, Jesus, Anthony, Alok, Don, Phillip, Paroma, Glen, Greg Richards, Claudiu, Miguel, Anna, Dr. Daniel, Dhruv, John, Markus, Olivier, Tim, Todd, Yani, Nina, Steve, Larry, Aaron For those that know me, I mean no disrespect when I don’t respond immediately. I’m simply not a fan of clicking a box with a ‘like’. In the words of science, if someone is going to take the time to respond (as all of you did here), it demands an equal and opposite (thoughtful) response. As a business owner, you are constantly playing in the unknown. I liken it to a slow play developing in front of you. I’ve learned (trust) there is always a time and place for response. This is one of those times, especially as we have now shifted into the Wood Dragon year. While many naturally believe this infers good luck (the dragon), that’s not necessarily true across the board. It demands the right attention and right action. Which leads me to ...... CONTINUED ...
