CEO Sleepout - I Slept!!!

I did it! I jumped on a plane late Thursday from Copenhagen and arrived in London in time for the start of the 2015 Action for Children CEO Sleepout. Myself and 16 other CEO’s slept under the stars for this wonderful cause. It was a tough night – temperatures dropped to freezing! ... but the rain held off – well for the most part, some minor drizzle in places :) ... Most grateful!!! United in one common goal - to get more of our kids off the streets, into warm comfortable accommodation, give them hot food, a mainstream education and more importantly, a sense of belonging. Basic things a child of our times should have!!

I returned to Copenhagen early on Friday morning to join our EMEA Sales Conference where 3500 of our team were ready to hear and saw some of you and thanked you personally for your donations. It is thought that approximately 80,000 young people were homeless in the UK last year, some as young as 13 years old. 1 in 7 will have experienced physical or sexual abuse. 1 in 3 will have attempted to take their life. Less than a third of these young people will not have even been reported missing from home. Action for Children seeks to address these issues through projects like West Suffolk Shared Housing and Dorset Nightstop – safe, supported lodgings where staff aim to build confidence and self-worth in care leavers and young people who are otherwise homeless so that they can achieve their independence and full potential.
