How can a CEO become a Key Person of Influence within an organisation looking to grow?
I've been obsessed with
Daniel Priestley
since reading his first book, Key Person of Influence. It's how I became connected and great friends with
Jean-Pierre De Villiers
in the first place.
Becoming a key person of influence within an organisation is an important step for a CEO who is looking to drive growth and success. Here are some alternative strategies (In addition to Daniel's KPI model) that can help a CEO to become a KPI:
- Develop a strong vision and strategy: A CEO who has a clear vision and strategy for the company is more likely to inspire and motivate employees and stakeholders. By communicating this vision and strategy effectively, a CEO can build a sense of purpose and direction that can help to drive growth and success.
- Build strong relationships: A CEO who has strong relationships with employees, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders is more likely to be seen as a key person of influence. By investing time and effort in building these relationships, a CEO can build trust and loyalty, and create a network of support that can help to drive growth.
- Lead by example: A CEO who sets a strong example for employees to follow is more likely to be seen as a key person of influence. By demonstrating a strong work ethic, commitment to the company's values, and a willingness to take risks and make bold decisions, a CEO can inspire and motivate employees to do their best work.
- Communicate effectively: Effective communication is essential for a CEO to become a key person of influence. By communicating clearly, listening to feedback, and engaging with employees and stakeholders, a CEO can build a culture of transparency and collaboration that can help to drive growth and success.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices: A CEO who is knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies is more likely to be seen as a key person of influence. By staying up-to-date with the latest developments and sharing this knowledge with employees and stakeholders, a CEO can position themselves as a thought leader in the industry.
- Invest in personal development: Finally, a CEO who invests in their own personal development is more likely to become a key person of influence. By continually learning and improving their skills, a CEO can demonstrate a commitment to growth and development that can inspire and motivate others.
Overall, becoming a key person of influence requires a combination of strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, as well as a commitment to personal development and staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. By focusing on these areas, a CEO can position themselves as a key driver of growth and success within their organisation.
I believe that every leader, and aspiring leader, within any industry and any size of organisation should strive to become a Key Person of Influence.

2 年To become a KPI (Key Person of Influence), you need to build TRUST with all the stakeholders, knowing your business, developing talented and empowered teams, defining strategies to deliver results. I see this as a common layer of the focus areas that you listed, Matt. Great article.
