CEO Insights: Virtually Sharing the Stories of Penn State Alumni
“Where else would you rather be than a Zoom full of Penn Staters!?”
It’s an edit of my usual event opener—“Where else would you rather be than a room full of Penn Staters!?!”—an edit that I’ve routinely used since mid-March when the COVID-19 work from home period started. Honestly, anytime I can be with fellow Penn Staters, I’ll take it, even if that must be virtually for the safety of all.
Over the past five months, the Penn State Alumni Association has continued to pursue our mission of connecting Penn Staters to each other and the University. A core pillar in these efforts is, “spreading the good news of Penn State and her alumni.” I could say this is our communication strategy to keep you informed, but it is much more than that. The work we do on behalf of Penn State is a calling, we sing the song of and shout our message from the top of Mount Nittany for the world to hear. From AlumnInsider and The Football Letter to the Penn Stater magazine and our website/social media channels, we are committed to connecting with you and sharing stories, sight and sounds from your alma mater.
A new way that we are sharing the stories of fellow Penn Staters with you is through our new weekly Zoom show called Coffee Hour. Each Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. EDT on Coffee Hour, I will share the stories of Penn State alumni and the contributions they make to the world personally and professionally. From a former football All-American turned entrepreneur to an attorney fighting to overturn wrongful convictions to a star of the TED stage and their viral 1.5 million views of a TED Talk, we hope that our guests are a source of inspiration for you and that they swell thy fame of Dear Old State.
I hope that you will grab a cup of coffee or your morning beverage of choice and join me this Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 9 a.m., as I visit with Ki-Jana Carter ’95, Nittany Lion Football All-American and CEO of ByoGlobe. Click here to register for Coffee Hour today.
For the Glory,
Paul
