Do you need a bit of a kick to get back into the work groove?
I’m happy to give you one ??
My core market is service-providers but I do occasionally work with product-based businesses as well.
Yesterday, I had a strategy call with a fierce young artist who also happens to be a passionate advocate for mental health.
She’s coming out of a couple of very busy weeks that included awards ceremonies and has a ton of follow-up to get through to capitalise on the potential opportunities.
So guess what she’s been doing?
Painting her kitchen.
Why?
She says because she’s feeling tired and run down.
I say she’s feeling overwhelmed because she’s not clear on her next steps.
Actually, that’s not fair. She knows what her next steps are but hasn’t planned out how to action them.
One of the actions I tasked her with was to get off our call and spend an hour as the CEO of her business.
Chances are you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything you put off over the summer.
You’re sitting at your desk dooming scrolling “for inspiration”.
You know you need to get to work but everything feels so important you can’t figure out where to start.
Sound familiar?
How to use your CEO time.
Want to steal the plan we discussed on yesterday’s strategy call?
Here you go:
?? Prioritise three actions to take this week which will sell your service/product, increase audience or improve your skills as CEO of your business.
?? Go gig economy on those actions – break them down into the smallest steps you need to take to get them done. A client told me last week that getting her to break her social media into small pieces was the biggest gamechanger to helping her get past a creative block she’s been struggling with.
?? Step 1 for all of those priorities? Block an hour out of your diary every day for the rest of the week to work on those steps.
?? Give yourself ten minutes at the beginning of the day to plan what you’re focusing on that day and five minutes at the end of the day to review what’s been achieved.
?? At the end of the day, record three wins you’ve had during the day. Even the small ones, they show you that while you may not feel like you’re making progress you actually are.
That’s it!
Before you start telling me you can’t find the time to sit down and do the planning listen up; I promise you that an hour every Monday morning spent planning will easily save you several hours over the week. You will start every single day knowing exactly what to focus on and how to get those priorities done.
And I don’t want to hear “Gosh Chris, that sounds a lot like a strategy and that word scares me”.
A strategy is nothing but corporate speak for a plan.

You wouldn’t go on the holiday of a lifetime without spending some time planning it out, would you? Where are you going to stay, do you need a rental car, where can you take the kids while you’re there, what do you want to make sure you do or see.
Why would you treat your business any differently?
After all, you’re planning on that business paying for your holidays, aren’t you?
Here’s my September challenge for you.
Commit to weekly CEO time of at least 90 minutes a week, 60 on a Monday, 30 on Friday.
Spend this time:
?? Planning
?? Creating
?? Researching
?? Reviewing
DO NOT SPEND THIS TIME:
? Catching up with work you've not done.
? Hanging out in Canva (I see you!!).
? Busy work.
Use this time to focus on your business as a whole.
To nurture it, to give it some love and your undivided attention.
Want to transform your business in just four weeks?
DM me that you're up for this challenge and I'll drop you a little note of encouragement and accountability every week to keep you on track.
Because I am convinced that you and your business will be stronger and more successful by the end of the month!
