CEO Hack - The Friday Report

There is a cottage industry concerning anything “Meetings” -

  • “How to run an effective meeting”
  • “How effective are meetings?”
  • “10 Ways to run an effective meeting”
  • “12 Proven Tips for effective meeting management”
  • “13 Step Guide to Running an effective meeting”
  • “8 signs of ineffective management meetings”

You get the idea –

that’s a quick online search.?

Conceptually the weekly meeting was meant for your team to share information that is important to the business such as; production issues affecting customers – customers not happy about… or customers happy about – products or service selling well – process broken.

So many people come up with solutions to the challenges of using meeting time effectively.

Here is a hack to reduce meetings, increase a leader’s communication with the team, get real honest feedback, learn more about the business.

Business owner’s/CEOs receive hundreds of touches a day; Email – Text message – WhatsApp – Slack – and so on, it is hard to weed through the noise to get to the meat.

We do know that anything important usually gets handled because it is important.

This hack brings to effective leaders the practice of proactive communication, the benefit of working on:

  • Planning
  • Preventative activities
  • Disciplines
  • Other activities that prevent crises
  • Connection to team

The HACK.

It is “The Friday Report”. It should be in the CEO/Business owner mailbox in the late afternoon on Friday – I used 4 pm.

The rules are simple: It takes no more than 5 minutes to write. No more than 60 seconds to read.

The goal is to share meaningful information from the week. Such as:

  • Are there any specific concerns with our product/service I should know?
  • Did you find anything in our marketplace of interest?
  • Is there any specific help you need to achieve your week or project goals.
  • What challenges are you having? How can I help?

This is the appropriate place for topics that will have a short or long-term impact on the business that may get lost during the week. Most important is that this be a simple communication tool, a quick note, not a burden to the writer or the reader.

You get the concept – it is simple, effective communication.

Try it you'll like it.
