Century Development Group President George Xu attended "FCBA" press conference.
On Friday, November 13, 2020, in his capacity as President of the Chinese Business Association of New York, Mr. George Xu, President of Century Development Group and New York City Regional Center, attended an urgent meeting/press conference on the Flushing Main Street Busway Pilot Project held at the Flushing Chinese Business Association ("FCBA"). This press conference was to report to the community on the progress of the efforts by the community against the implementation of the Main Street car ban which was scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2020
The press conference was attended by community leaders including New York City Councilman Peter Koo, FCBA's Chief Advisor Mr. Peter Tu, Mr. Juan Li Hou, President and Chairman of the Beijing Association, and Mr. George Xu, President of the Chinese Business Association of New York and President of Century Development Group.
At the press conference, FCBA indicated that despite the strong objection of the community, the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) decided to proceed with the car ban. As a result, FCBA, along with local businesses and community leaders including physicians and medical practices took legal action against DOT to curb the implementation of the project. A law suit was filed on November 4, 2020 and a Preliminary Injunction was issued by a Supreme Court Judge of Queens County on Friday, November 13, 2020. The implementation of the car ban is effectively delayed until December 21, 2020. We will follow the law suit and the progress of the car ban closely and report accordingly.
A leader and active member of the community, Mr. George Xu has always been concerned and is supportive of the community’s development and stability. He was honored to be invited to participate in the event in his capacity as President of the Chinese Business Association of New York. George and his friends will continue to work for the greater good of the Flushing community.
