In a progressive move to promote organ donation, the Central Government has decided to grant 42 days of special casual leave to its employees who donate their organs. This significant step acknowledges the recovery time required after the surgery and aims to encourage more people to participate in this life-saving act.
Why the Change?
Previously, organ donors were entitled to 30 days of special leave. However, organ donation involves major surgery that requires extended recovery time, including hospitalization and post-surgery care. The updated policy provides a maximum of 42 days of leave, ensuring donors have adequate time for a full recovery.

Promoting Organ Donation
This initiative not only supports the physical recovery of donors but also recognizes organ donation as a noble act that saves lives. By granting this extended leave, the government aims to encourage more employees to consider becoming living organ donors, contributing to public welfare.
Why It Matters
Organ donation can save countless lives, but many potential donors hesitate due to recovery concerns. By addressing these issues, the government is fostering a culture of giving and reducing the barriers to organ donation.
