Central NSW Councils clean up at the Local Government NSW Environment Awards
Having won division awards in five areas, Parkes Shire Council and Central NSW Joint Organisation were overall winners in three areas for on-the-ground works, emissions reduction and water management at the Local Government NSW Excellence in the Environment Awards”, said Cr Kevin Beatty, Mayor of Cabonne and Chair of Central NSW Councils.
“It’s important for the communities of the Central West to know that their councils are doing award winning work,” said Cr Beatty.
“The work we have been doing in water and energy is also saving our councils and communities money and water while delivering environmental benefits.”
“For example, having successfully negotiated LED lights into the regions, Central NSW Councils has recently saved $770k across the region in streetlight costs,” said Cr Beatty.
“Importantly the Awards event is an opportunity to learn from other councils on leading practice and we will be sharing these ideas across the region in the coming year,” said Cr Beatty.
