By April 1, 2020, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. In every community in the country, residents are asked to complete a short questionnaire. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail.
Counting America’s population every ten years is required by the Constitution. For every person counted, the State of Arizona receives $2,959 from the federal government. This means more than $20 billion annually for Arizona. Census data is also used to apportion those dollars for a wide variety of federal, state and regional programs. Responding also helps your community receive its fair share for education, infrastructure, health care, parks and much more .
Arizona is also expected to gain a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives if the census accurately reflects Arizona’s estimated population growth. State and local officials also use census counts to draw boundaries for congressional, state legislative, and school districts.
For those that don’t live in Arizona year-round, they should report their residency wherever they are on April 1st, in the location where they sleep the majority of the time (even if you are a citizen of a foreign country). Your response is confidential and anonymous! Millions of dollars in federal funding for depend on it! Learn more: https://azcensus2020.gov #2020Census #AZCounts
