Census 2020
The United States of America Census 2020 is here and amid the chaos created by the COVID 19 pandemic, it is now more crucial than ever that we ALL fill out the Census. Here is some important information about the United States 2020 Census:
Who needs to be counted in the Census 2020?
Each household will receive a request to respond. Every person living in the household should be included in the response. This includes undocumented residents, non-citizens etc. The Census does not ask your immigration status and there are laws in place to protect the confidentiality of the information shared.
How do you get counted?
Each household should receive an initial letter with a code to access an online questionnaire. You take that code to www.my2020census.gov and fill out the survey. If you have not yet received it (or accidentally tossed it!), they will send reminders if they have not heard from your household.
Why should you take action to be counted?
Billions of federal funds and congressional seats are determined by how many residents are located in each state, county and city. This impacts our schools, roads and health care. It is estimated that in CA alone, that the value in federal funding is approximately $1000 per person per year. Census 2020 is non-partisan, it is in everyone’s interest to get the count right so critical federal funds are distributed accurately.
