Celebrations Of Ignorance

It turned out to be a glorious day in nature, and fortunately I was able to enjoy being out in it more than normally, because I happened to be showing homes in various small towns in North Iowa. I did manage to get a shot of the Shell Rock River in one of those towns which I'm sharing with you tonight. Yes, in a very short time, that river will be coming alive once again with all the plants and animals that depend upon it for food, safety and shelter. As I've mentioned more than once, the fact that our Shell Rock River is my all-time North Iowa favorite, and mostly because it's not as wild as the others, along with its tributary being Albert Lea Lake, which in my mind, makes it all the cleaner.

Since I was working with two different buyers today, I dare say there was at least one home that had possibilities for one group, and definitely strong interest in another with the other group who likely would've made an offer on it today, but we had to hold off until they get a letter of pre-approval from one of our lenders. I really don't like writing offers on properties before a given buyer has been pre-approved.

With my having a break of time between those showings, we did manage to get 113 N. Hawkeye under contract which ended up being a back-and-forth period of negotiation.? At the end of the day, I dare say that buyer got one heck of a house for the money, so hopefully it'll continue to be nurtured and appreciated as much as the current owners have given it. Now that it's finally under contract, I can focus all the more on getting 933 N. Polk sold. We did have one offer on it, but couldn't seem to come together on price, so hopefully we can come to an agreement on the next offer that comes along.

When reading the news today, I happened upon a short video where someone was talking about a passage from a book which Carl Sagan wrote, and if I remember right, was written back in 1995 and called 'Demon-Haunted World' which talked about the direction in which our country would likely be heading when saying the siren song of unreason is not just a cultural wrong-turn, but a dangerous plunge into darkness that would threaten our most basic freedoms. Keep in mind, Carl Sagan received many awards for his research including the Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction. In spite of passing at a relatively young age, he certainly had the mind of a very wise man. I truly enjoyed listening to him speak whenever he was being televised. Yes, I believe his words back 1995 are ringing of truth in today's world, and especially in regards to the direction our government is moving with their celebrations of ignorance.

I have been noticing where Bernie Sanders has been on a speaking tour all across out Country, and from what I've been seeing and reading, he's been having a remarkably large number of people attending those gatherings. There certainly haven't been any protestors there as there've been with those Republican 'town hall' gatherings which they've now shut down because of the negative kicking-back those Reps are getting from their constituents. Thank goodness the elected members of our House of Representatives come up for re-election every two years, so hopefully there'll be a number of Republicans voted out in less than a two year's time. There's one particular businesswoman here in North Iowa who'd be a perfect replacement for Ashley Hinson, and let me tell you, that woman has got her 'shite' together which is why I continue to nudging her to step up to the plate and run for office.

Tonight's One-liner is: Nothing disturbs me more than the glorification of stupidity.
