The idea is to incorporate this day into your marketing strategy. How to do it? We've come up with some ideas for you!

5 Senses, 5 Ideas

1. Are you a boutique that sells scented products?

Get your customers involved in a game of "What's that Scent?" Award token prizes to customers that guess the mystery scent.

2. Do you sell food products?

Tastings are always popular, but put a new spin on it. Ask your customers how they would pair different foods and flavors. You might be surprised at their pairings and suggestions that enhance your business without incurring the cost of a marketing survey.

3. Are you in the furniture, fabrics or interior design business?

Encourage customers to feel different upholstery fabrics; leather compared to vinyl, Ultrasuede? compared to suede. This comparison can be a selling point for either. Prepare a giveaway imprinted with your company logo and telephone number; perhaps a small pouch made of leather on one side and suede on the other, or a keychain using these materials? The ideas are endless.

4. Do you provide hearing aids?

Prepare a program of a series of sounds. Make it fun and see how many your customers can guess while wearing your preferred hearing aid. Offer a reward coupon.

5. Do you own a photography studio?

Have you ever considered guiding your customer through the developing process; sort of a 'mini-workshop?' You might be surprised to learn how many would like to know how it's done. Seeing how it works might be the ultimate glimpse into your area of expertise!

Strategize for Next Year

What type of business are you in, and how could you seamlessly involve your customers in a new buying experience using all five senses? The mega-experience would be to incorporate an event where all five senses are taken into account.

It’s a little late to schedule on this year’s calendar, but bookmark this idea in advance of next year’s ‘Celebration of the Senses’ day to share an awesome marketing and hands-on experience with your customers.
