Lynn W Gardner commented on Pentax Graduated Neutral Density Simulator Review: Chris, you may have implied but I did not catch it, do you not have a box of various screw-on filters to accomplish the same effect, or do you need to supplement the screw on filters with the aforementioned software update? Sorry to ask but us users of 50 year old Minoltas don’t have computers in our 35mm cameras.
Hi Lynn, The software filter replaces the glass screw-on filters, and frankly does a better job. There are variable neutral-density glass screw-on filters, but they exhibit an X effect from the crossed screens that allow the effect to vary. Or you can stack single-strength neutral density filters. Which means carrying around a stack of those…The software filter works with any lens you put on the camera. Recommended!
