Celebrating your identity

BT Group stands proudly alongside the LGBTQ+ community in solidarity and support, recognising the importance of diversity, inclusion, and equality for all. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive.

As we commemorate Pride 2024, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a workplace and society where every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, feels valued and empowered. We believe that diversity enriches our lives, strengthens our teams, and drives innovation, making us a better and more vibrant business.

This Pride month, we are excited to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and stories of our LGBTQ+ colleagues. Their courage, resilience, and authenticity reminds us of the importance of unity and support.

Join us in celebrating some of our amazing colleagues, whose talents and perspectives make BT Group a dynamic and welcoming place to work. Together, we can build a future where everyone is free to be their true selves and contribute to a society that values and uplifts all its members.

Identifying as bisexual and using she/they pronouns, I found immense support within the business that helped me recover from high school years marred by intense homophobia. The supportive environment and inclusive focus within the business has made me feel valued and empowered, highlighting the importance of workplace support.

I am Bryony (She/Her), serving as a General Manager within the EE Consumer division, and I have dedicated 11? years to the BT Group. As a proud Lesbian, I am happily married to my wife, and we have 2 stepdaughters, 2 grandsons, and two beloved English Bulldogs, Myrtle and Wilma. I believe strongly in the adage, ‘you can’t be what you can’t see,’ and strive to be a visible, proud member of the LGBTQ+ community as a senior leader.

As a parent, I want my children to grow up free to be who they are and love without facing prejudice or discrimination, making Pride especially important to me. For the past three years, I have taken a leading role in organising our involvement in the Pride Parade, reflecting my commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.
"This year, we’re privileged to represent BT Group at seventeen Pride marches across the UK with the theme of ‘Celebrating Your Identity.'

It’s an honour to showcase the experiences and achievements of LGBTQ+ colleagues, demonstrating our support for LGBTQ+ communities across our customer and colleague base.

We’re proud of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, celebrating individual identities. We’re also supporting our leaders, people managers, and colleagues to talk openly and confidently about LGBTQ+ issues.”

BT Group from my experience has been incredibly accepting. I worked here for 9 years before coming out as Trans. I was fully supported by my TL, my Ops, my immediate team and the wider corporate community across all our sites. - Faye Thomas, EE
You can’t ask for a better work to place in terms of feeling like you can express yourself and celebrate your identity. We have an environment where people feel comfortable and are encouraged to challenge where anything doesn’t line up with our values. - Steven Peacock, Operations Manager
In so many workplaces today LGBTQ+ people have to hide who they are and it's important to help colleagues understand the environment we have that allows everyone to be free, to be themselves isn’t always the case and supporting the LGBTQ+ community is how we make change. - Steph Lumley, EE

We recognise that Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) is not just a ‘nice thing to do’, it’s critical to our growth. Our commitment to Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity remains resolute and unwavering.
