Celebrating YOU This October!

October is here, and with it comes a special time for the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to recognize and appreciate YOU—the taxpayer. Since its inception in 2005 as Taxpayers’ Week, this celebration has evolved into a full Taxpayer’s Month (TPM), marking a time of gratitude, education, and engagement with the community that fuels Kenya’s growth.

At KRA, we understand that our role in collecting revenue is just one piece of the puzzle. The driving force behind every shilling collected is you—the businesses, individuals, and institutions who are compliant, responsible, and dedicated to moving our country forward.

TPM is a time to say THANK YOU for your contribution to Kenya’s economic development, infrastructure growth, and improved public services. Each tax paid helps us build schools, hospitals, roads, and many other vital services that uplift communities.

Taxpayer's Month is packed with activities that aim to not only appreciate compliant taxpayers but also provide platforms for tax awareness and engagement. Throughout the month, we will be hosting a series of events to:

a) Launching the Taxpayers Month and appreciating the contributions of taxpayers to economic growth.

b) Host KRA Summit for dialogue on tax matters, where you can ask questions and gain insights from KRA thought leaders as well as create awareness and educate the public on KRA’s revenue collection efforts to build goodwill and positively influence public opinion. Engage players in different sectors and levels of the economy on a comprehensive and inclusive approach to boosting domestic resource mobilization and trade facilitation.

c) Provide tax education forums to help you understand the ever-evolving tax landscape and how to stay ahead of the curve.

d) Support KRA employees through comprehensive well-being initiatives for an empowered workforce

e) Recognize and reward top taxpayers in various categories who have demonstrated exemplary compliance.

Together, we build a future where resources are equitably distributed, fostering an environment that supports businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators. The revenues you contribute through taxes empower government initiatives that enhance Kenya’s global competitiveness.

Our theme for Taxpayer’s Month 2024 is “Facilitating Trade to Grow Our Economy”. This theme underscores our commitment to nurturing a transparent, supportive, and collaborative tax environment that helps support and grow our economy. It speaks to the important relationship between KRA and you, the taxpayer, as we continuously work to improve the ease of tax compliance, leveraging technology and partnerships for a more seamless experience and economic growth.

As we embark on this exciting month, KRA wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to all taxpayers—small and large. You are the foundation of Kenya’s revenue success.
