A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform. - Diane Mariechild
Throughout my life, women have had a profound impact on me in various ways. Whether it be as a mother, sister, wife, or daughter, I am fortunate to have numerous women in my life who have influenced me greatly.
Growing up, I have always seen women often work what I call as the "second shift", where they take on the responsibilities of both a full-time job and managing their household and family. This can mean working double shifts, as they continue to take care of their home and loved ones after completing their workday. It's a demanding and challenging activity that requires immense dedication and perseverance on their part.
One of the recent studies at Washington University in St. Louis showed mothers' work hours fell four to five times as much as fathers'.?
Although we are seeing progress in men taking on equal responsibility for household chores, the majority of housework and caregiving is still carried out by women. This can be attributed, in part, to the natural instinct women have towards nurturing and caring for their families. According to a recent study by Visier , 70% of full-time working women continue to bear the majority of caregiving responsibilities at home.
Technological Advances Changed the Face of the Society
?In one of the studies conducted by the University of Michigan in 2018, when a mother achieves success in her career, people may question how she manages to perform exceptionally well while also being a good parent. Conversely, if a mother is a dedicated and effective parent, people may assume that she cannot excel in her career. This bias prevailed for a long time but not anymore.
In the past, working mothers have faced a lack of resources to support their needs. However, the pandemic and advancements in technology have changed the game. Thanks to technological advancements and supportive work policies, we are now witnessing a positive evolution in society, particularly when it comes to working mothers.
?Supportive Policies Encourage Women's Workforce Participation?

With companies investing in policies to support mothers in the workforce, we are seeing a reduction in social biases against working mothers. These policies, including paid parental leave, on-site day care, and flexible work hours, are empowering women to succeed both in their careers and in their personal lives.
Smart organizations recognize the importance of investing in initiatives that help mothers successfully re-enter the workforce after taking a career break. To enable working mothers to balance their careers with motherhood, many companies are now implementing policy changes that support their needs. With the rise of remote work, new challenges and opportunities have presented themselves for women in the workplace.
