A Day in the Life of a Logistics Manager

Q: Can you tell us about your role at Nashua LTD and what a typical day looks like for you?

Buhle: I manage the Logistics Department for Nashua Vaal. A typical day for me involves route planning and scheduling deliveries on behalf of our customers. My role is simply to ensure that all our logistical commitments are executed in a timely and efficient way.

The Journey to Nashua LTD

Q: What motivated you to join Nashua LTD, and what has your journey been like since you started?

Buhle: The honest truth is the fear of unemployment. I realised early on from university that I needed to get my foot in any door to gain work experience. Nashua was that door for me. The best way to describe my journey is to say, “I am not the same girl who walked through the reception door six and a half years ago.” I have grown tremendously in a short space of time, proving that taking a chance on an individual can lead to amazing results.

Balancing Professional and Personal Life

Q: How do you balance your professional responsibilities with your personal life, especially if you have family commitments?

Buhle: I am still learning to find the balance; however, the past year has taught me the importance of delegation. Allowing my team to take on some of my responsibilities has been a game changer, as it enables me to focus on my family without the worry of everything falling apart. Seeking help has shown me that we build stronger teams capable of producing quality work in our absence.

Overcoming Challenges as a Woman in Business

Q: Have you faced any challenges as a woman in your role, and how have you overcome them?

Buhle: I’ve encountered a few challenges, but the most significant was being judged for my management style. As a female manager leading an all-male team, my approach was sometimes considered "too soft." However, I have always remained true to my authentic self and stood firm in my beliefs, which helped me successfully navigate those judgments.

Proud Accomplishments at Nashua LTD

Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of during your time at Nashua LTD?

Buhle: My most notable accomplishment is winning the 2023 Department of the Year award. This achievement helped change the perception of our department and confirmed that the hard work of those who often felt unseen is finally being recognized.

Memorable Projects and Experiences

Q: Can you share a memorable experience or project you've worked on at Nashua LTD?

Buhle: A memorable experience for me was participating in the Nashua Leadership Programme—class of 2023. Completing this course was enriching for a young female leader like me, and the opportunity to share my learnings with our fellow managers made it even more special. My slogan during sessions was “To Learn, Share and Engage,” encapsulating the essence of our collective experience.

Advice for Aspiring Female Leaders in Tech

Q: What advice would you give to other women aspiring to take on leadership roles in the tech industry?

Buhle: The most powerful tool is the mind. Once you've programmed yourself to see you as the leader you aspire to be, it’s all about putting in the hard work to manifest that vision—nothing is impossible!
