Celebrating Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women throughout history. At Rasa, this month holds special meaning. We are a company founded and led by women, and we’re proud to be certified as a Women Owned Business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). But beyond celebration, this month is also about recognizing the challenges that women still face, especially those living with a criminal record.
The Hidden Struggles of Mothers with Records
For many women, having a criminal record is more than just a legal issue—it’s a barrier that impacts nearly every part of their lives. This is especially true for moms. Did you know that half of all children in the U.S. have at least one parent with a record? That means millions of mothers are dealing with the consequences of past mistakes, long after they’ve served their time.
One heartbreaking reality is that due to their criminal records, many moms can’t fully participate in their children’s lives. In many schools, parents must pass a background check to volunteer in classrooms, go on field trips, or even help with after-school activities. A minor offense—sometimes from years ago—can block a mother from these opportunities, making her feel like an outsider in her own child’s education.
A Second Chance for Families
At Rasa, we believe that mothers are so much more than their worst day, and that a criminal record shouldn’t be a life sentence. Everyone deserves a second chance—especially parents who just want to provide a better life for their kids. Clearing a record isn’t just about the person affected. It’s about their families, their communities, and their futures.
That’s why we make the process of expungement and record clearance as simple and affordable as possible. When a mom can finally get rid of a past record, she gets back more than just opportunities—she regains her confidence, her dignity, and her ability to fully show up for her children.
Celebrating Women, Creating Change
As a women-founded and WBENC-certified company, Rasa is proud to be part of the movement for gender equity in legal access. We know that empowering women strengthens families, workplaces, and entire communities. Let’s celebrate Women’s History Month by creating more opportunities for women and families one cleared record at a time.
