Celebrating Women's Day, we would have never existed without you!

Today, March 8, we celebrate International Women's Day. I am reflecting on women's incredible achievements and contributions worldwide. In addition, I want to express my deep appreciation for the amazing women in my life, such as my wife Sarah, sisters Nazmieh and Rola, and my late mother Khadijah, who have all significantly impacted my life and were my inspiration in many ways.

My belief, Islam, provides a perspective on the importance of women, which cannot be overstated. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasised women's significance and contributions to society. He acknowledged that "Paradise lies at the feet of mothers", highlighting the immense value and respect Islam places on motherhood and the role of women in raising and nurturing children.

In Islamic history, women have significantly contributed to their communities and society. For example, Khadijah, Prophet Muhammad's first wife (peace be upon him), was a successful businesswoman who supported the early Islamic community financially and played a crucial role in spreading the message of Islam. Likewise, Fatimah, the Prophet's daughter (peace be upon him), is often viewed as an ultimate archetype for Muslim women and an example of compassion, generosity, and enduring suffering. Similarly, Aisha, the Prophet's wife and mother of the believers was a renowned scholar and teacher known for her vast knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence and hadith (sayings of the Prophet).

In light of this, I need to recognise and celebrate women like Sarah, Nazmieh, Rola, and my late mother Khadijah's contributions and achievements and contributions who positively impact their respective fields and communities. Their dedication, hard work, and leadership testify to women's important role in society and the significant contributions they can make when given equal opportunities.

This International Women's Day, let us continue to work towards creating a world where every woman has equal opportunities and can thrive in all aspects of life following the principles and values of Islam. Join me in celebrating the incredible women in your life and recognising their immense value and importance in society.?
