Celebrating the Triumphs and Resilience of Women on International Women's Day!

Welcome to Herfinance Club with Sue Diamond, a weekly newsletter focusing on a holistic approach to financial Success.?Our mission is simple: we want to inspire ONE million women to talk about money because knowledge is power, and when that knowledge helps you become more independent, it translates to empowerment.

On this International Women's Day in 2024, we honor the remarkable strength and resilience of women globally. From grassroots activists to world leaders, women have led the way in driving positive change and building a brighter future for all.

Let's pause to celebrate all the women who bring joy, meaning, and inspiration to our lives, and express gratitude for the bold female trailblazers who pave the way for others worldwide.

This moment also calls for reflection on our progress and a commitment to fostering inclusivity. It is our collective responsibility to acknowledge each other's strength and potential, reaching out with words of encouragement to the inspiring women in our lives.

It can be your mum, your friend, an activist, a supervisor, or a female entrepreneur.

  • Tell her the impact she has had on your life and thank her for being there for you.
  • Thank them for all the hard work, dedication, and commitment that they have poured into whatever field or area of their life.
  • Express your appreciation for the power of their example and the courage it takes to break through barriers on the road to equality.
  • Reach out with a message of support by reminding her that she is strong, capable, and inspiring.

Letting them know how much we admire their efforts and achievements can be an invaluable source of encouragement for them.

Women empowering women” is a mantra we love to live by, and one that has helped to inspire women for decades. Where would we be without each other?

This year's IWD theme has encouraged me to contemplate more on the distinction between equality and equity when it comes to women's financial autonomy.

It not only impacts us as a gender but also is influenced by our skin color, sexual orientation, and physical abilities. These factors shape how we live life, how others perceive us—and the doors of opportunity that are open for us.

Let's stand together to challenge gender bias and advocate for equity—for ourselves, our communities, and the world. We must work together to ensure that all women are given the same opportunities regardless of who they are or what their backgrounds may be.

Make this International Women's Day an opportunity to dive deeper and explore some pertinent questions.

  • In what ways are you actively recognizing and honoring women's accomplishments today?
  • As a woman, how can you take pride in and empower your accomplishments?
  • How will you be honoring International Women's Day this year?
  • How will you use International Women's Day to change your thoughts and feelings about womanhood?
  • Reflect upon the preconceived notions and self-imposed boundaries you have regarding women, beauty standards, body image, ageism, intellect levels, physical capabilities, and societal roles.
  • How do you respond when you become aware of gender-based prejudice, discrimination, or stereotyping?

It is important to remember that equality alone isn't enough. We must strive for equity and inclusion to make a true difference. As you think about what steps you can take toward progress, let this thought-provoking quote guide you: "

Gloria Steinem puts it best when she said “Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” So let us use this opportunity to stand together and make sure that we continue to break boundaries and push for more inclusion and gender equity.

In honor of Women's History Month, we asked Carolyn B. McCollum, attorney, flight attendant, and Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, for some honest advice on how she managed to juggle all of these roles simultaneously for more than thirty years on our HerFinance Talk podcast. She went as far as detailing how to set yourself up for passive income.
