This week is National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
As I reflect on my journey over the past three months at Fleetwood , I'm filled with gratitude and excitement for the future. I've been warmly welcomed by the diverse team here, and I've learned so much about the incredible capabilities of modular construction. It's inspiring to see what modular construction can do to help alleviate the housing crisis. I've also had the pleasure of reconnecting with previous industry contacts and forging new business relationships.
One of the standout moments for me was witnessing one of our double module three-bedroom homes being craned into position on site and reconnected together. It was a powerful demonstration of innovation and precision in modular construction.
Fleetwood's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is currently at the Reflect stage, guiding us in our commitment to reconciliation. This plan has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of our responsibilities and the impact we can have. It aligns with my personal values of responsibility and accountability, values that I also share with Fleetwood's organisational values.
In the next phase of my journey with Fleetwood, I aim to bring value to the company, our customers, and the market we serve. I'm deeply thankful for the support and guidance of my leaders, mentors and colleagues, and I'm excited to see what we can achieve together.
At Fleetwood, we believe in corporate responsibility and accountability. Our RAP is a strategic document that outlines our commitment to reconciliation and provides a framework for actions that support this process. It helps us take responsibility for past injustices and create positive change moving forward. As a leader in the modular construction sector, we are committed to working with Indigenous communities in a respectful and collaborative manner.
Our RAP sets clear targets and measures for progress, helping us build trust with Indigenous communities and ensure meaningful progress towards reconciliation. We are proud partners and supporters of Supply Nation, promoting the inclusion of Indigenous businesses in our supply chain.
Here's to continuing this important journey, learning, growing, and making a positive impact together.
