Celebrating teamwork
This is a tribute to those contractors for the federal government who toil in the background--those whose accomplishments are all but invisible to the general public.??Our efforts are key to maintaining and enhancing a great many governmental programs.?This has continued through the pandemic and the related challenges of maintaining supplies and equipment.?We have very few perks and very, very rarely any recognition. We tackle projects every day in the work place--not conveniently (or more safely) working from home.
Through the pandemic I have been part of a scanning team whose combined efforts dealt with a massive amount of document scanning.?The aging documents in the case files (dating back to the 1940s) require careful handling and an expert eye.?To illustrate the immensity of the effort, my own contribution over a 3-month period was around 350,000 pages when more recent material cooperated for even higher productivity.?Scanning at a clip of over 115,000 pages per month was necessary to make progress on the mountain of vintage pages.
The accumulation of decades of paperwork was assigned to us--and we have accomplished the critical process to make the information it contained widely accessible.
Government contractors do impressive things and are to be saluted!
