How Inova Health Found Success with its Epic Beaker Implementation?

When Inova Health , the leading nonprofit healthcare provider in northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. metro area, was looking to move away from its legacy lab application to the Epic Beaker module, the organization knew it was going to be a big undertaking. The project included five hospitals, one free-standing central lab, six free-standing emergency departments, 21 urgent care clinics, and three ambulatory clinics. Survey: Cloud misconfigurations, cybersecurity budgets increase and more?

A recent survey of over 180 healthcare IT leaders had several shocking results regarding in-house IT teams. Key takeaways from the survey, which was released as part of the 2024 State of Healthcare Cloud Security and Compliance Posture Report, included the following:?

  • 92% of organizations have increased cybersecurity budgets year-over-year.?

  • Healthcare organizations are experiencing an average of 3-5 security incidents each year.?

  • 80% of organizations surveyed reported at least one cloud misconfiguration in the past year.?

  • 54% of organizations have implemented new cloud security tools or software.?

  • 68% of organizations are putting a significant portion of their budgets toward staff training, but are still finding that it’s not enough.?
