Celebrating Success: Highlights from the Kwale Wezesha Graduation and Pitching Event

We recently celebrated a major milestone with the Kwale Wezesha Graduation and Pitching event, a highlight of our ongoing efforts under the KIEP-SKIES program. This event marked the end of seven weeks of intensive business training, where 34 dedicated entrepreneurs honed their skills and prepared to take their businesses to the next level.

The day began with the arrival of guests, followed by opening remarks from Loreen Wanjiru, setting an inspiring tone for the day. The main event was the pitching session, where ten promising businesses presented their ideas to a panel of judges, each showcasing their potential to make a significant impact in their communities.

The Rising Car Wash kicked off the pitches, presenting their community-centered business that offers top-tier car cleaning services using eco-friendly techniques. Salha Enterprise followed, showcasing their retail business specializing in foodstuffs and fresh raw fish, known for high-quality products at competitive prices.

MUSI’s Collection impressed the judges with their beautifully crafted, durable leather sandals. Ushiymer Green Hub Enterprise presented their work in vegetable seedling propagation and sustainable agriculture practices. Fabra Foods wrapped up the first round with their unique hibiscus pineapple juice, a refreshing and nutritious beverage option.

After a brief break, the second round began with Maufat Design, a business dedicated to producing high-quality, durable rugs and carpets designed for comfort and safety. Pwani Institute of Commerce then highlighted their role as a premier ICT training institute equipping students with essential digital skills.

Umeysasweetbites showcased their home-based business, specializing in delicious packed food, snacks, and cakes, focusing on freshness and quality. Eden Slice followed with their cake production business, known for crafting, packaging, and distributing high-quality cakes that are both beautiful and tasty. DenaEasy Fashion and Apparel concluded the pitches with their innovative retail business offering stylish, affordable clothing and accessories.

After the pitches, all trainees gathered to receive their certificates in a joyous ceremony, celebrating their achievements and the hard work they put into the program. The cake-cutting ceremony was a special moment, symbolizing the sweetness of success and the beginning of new opportunities for all graduates.

As the judges deliberated, the atmosphere was filled with anticipation. Finally, Maufat Designs and Eden Slice were announced as the winners, each receiving a grant to further develop their businesses. Their clear business models, innovative approaches, and strong potential for growth set them apart.

The event concluded with networking over snacks, allowing the entrepreneurs to connect, share experiences, and forge new partnerships. It was a fitting end to a day filled with inspiration, innovation, and the celebration of local entrepreneurship.

The Kwale Wezesha Graduation and Pitching event was more than just a competition; it was a testament to the power of entrepreneurship in driving sustainable economic growth in our communities. As we move forward, we eagerly anticipate the growth and impact of these businesses in their communities and beyond.
