Celebrating the Start of Black History Month: Embracing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Happy Black History Month! Today marks the first day of a month-long celebration of the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. As we kick off this month of celebration, it's important to reflect on the state of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our workplaces and industries.

The death of George Floyd and the subsequent protests sparked a wave of corporate America committing to the fight against systemic racism, with promises of $50 billion in support. Yet, despite these promises, the black community only saw a fraction of this support, with only 10% of those funds actually reaching them. The decline of black-owned businesses by 41% between February and April of 2020 is a testament to the ongoing systemic barriers faced by Black Americans.

We at RISE Urban Nation believe that uplifting marginalized groups is not just an act of kindness, but an action that benefits and supports us all. That's why we've launched a 5-minute survey to capture the experiences and best practices of companies working towards DEI. We aim to build a report highlighting the progress being made across industries, and to provide valuable insights for companies looking to improve their DEI efforts.

We encourage all companies and individuals to take the survey and share their experiences. Your input will help us build a comprehensive report that will serve as a valuable resource for businesses looking to make a real impact in the fight against systemic racism.

So don't hesitate, take the survey now at www.riseurbannation.com and be part of the solution. Let's work together to make a lasting impact in our communities and industries, and create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for all.
