Happy Black History Month! Today marks the first day of a month-long celebration of the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. The death of George Floyd and the subsequent protests sparked a wave of corporate America committing to the fight against systemic racism, with promises of $50 billion in support. Yet, despite these promises, the black community only saw a fraction of this support, with only 10% of those funds actually reaching them. The decline of black-owned businesses by 41% between February and April of 2020 is a testament to the ongoing systemic barriers faced by Black Americans.
