Celebrating Solidarity and Heritage: Orchestrating The 77th UN Day Gathering in Doha, Qatar

As the UN Day draws near, I would like to take a moment to contemplate a significant event for which I had the responsibility of orchestrating.

Approximately a year ago, Doha, Qatar, played host to an extraordinary event that brought together ambassadors, diplomats, and dignitaries from around Qatar to commemorate The 77th United Nations (UN) Day. With an impressive assembly of ambassadors and attendees the UN Day gathering in Doha was a significant achievement that showcased Qatar's rich cultural diversity while honoring the UN's mission and accomplishments. In this piece, I am delighted to share my pivotal role in spearheading the organization of this exceptional event and the various components that made it an unforgettable and culturally immersive experience.

The journey to creating this unforgettable event began with careful conceptualization and planning. Collaborating with stakeholders, I defined the event's theme and objectives, formulating a comprehensive plan with key milestones and resource allocation. This early groundwork was essential to ensure that the event aligned perfectly with its primary purpose: celebrating the UN's mission and fostering diplomatic ties.

One of the critical decisions I made was selecting the venue – the Flag Plaza, a symbolic location adorned with flags from around the world. To emphasize inclusivity and unity, I ensured that the UN flag flew prominently alongside the flags of all nations, symbolizing the cooperative spirit and diversity that the UN represents.

Gratitude extends to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar for their invaluable contribution. A pivotal factor in the event's success was the close collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar, which added significant credibility and diplomatic significance to the occasion, underscoring our joint commitment to the UN's mission.

To infuse the event with a captivating musical dimension, the prestigious Qatari Philharmonic Orchestra was contacted and engaged. Their performance introduced an enchanting and culturally rich element to the program, elevating the overall experience.

Facilitating video messages from 11 UN representatives in Qatar was a pivotal aspect of the event. I provided comprehensive support throughout the process, from translation, recording, and editing, ensuring that their messages were effectively conveyed.

In order to craft a captivating visual display, a massive LED screen was constructed, taking center stage in showcasing the messages from UN representatives and the message from the UN Secretary-General on that momentous day.

Maintaining the utmost standards of hospitality, close coordination was established with a prestigious Qatar-based organization to manage all aspects of catering for the occasion. The outcome was a superb culinary journey and flawless service, thoughtfully curated to exceed the expectations of our esteemed attendees.

I extended invitations to more than seven major newspapers and radio stations, ensuring coverage of the event in three languages: Arabic, English, and French. This strategic outreach broadened the event's impact and conveyed its message to a diverse and international audience.

To infuse the event with Qatari culture and hospitality, I arranged for a traditional Qatari band to greet all attendees with heartwarming Qatari customs and songs, creating a welcoming and culturally immersive atmosphere.

I designed and implemented a comprehensive promotional campaign to generate excitement and awareness about the event. I also collaborated with media outlets to secure coverage and enhance the event's visibility.

On the day of the event, I took charge of supervising every detail, ensuring the program's smooth flow, welcoming guests, and addressing any unforeseen challenges with professionalism.

In conclusion, I look back with great appreciation on my time spent at the UNESCO Doha office. It was a truly enriching experience, and I was filled with delight to have had the opportunity to serve the UN missions in Doha. Qatar, with its warm hospitality and vibrant culture, provided an exceptional backdrop for this endeavor, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to this remarkable nation.

Furthermore, my sincere gratitude extends to all those who were part of this journey.
