Celebrating Six Years

Celebrating Six Years

insitro marks our six-year anniversary this month. We recently reflected on our progress and the opportunity ahead at our annual in vivo week, a signature event run by and for insitrocytes to learn, collaborate, and innovate. This year we set a new bar for inspiring scientific advances, progress in our ML models, moving keynote sessions, creative connections, and a little bit of healthy competition.

There were six takeaways that stood out and propel us forward:

  1. Our strategy of “pipeline through platform” is delivering. Our experimental and computational platforms are generating and integrating cellular, clinical, and chemical data at incredible scale, and our ML analysis methods are delivering new and exciting insights. Our corporate strategy team shared how we can build value for ourselves and for patients by utilizing our discovery engine again and again. The concept of repeatability was also the focus of our keynote conversation with life sciences visionary John Maraganore , who shared priceless insights from his 20-year journey of building Alnylam as a platform company.
  2. New insights are advancing our pipeline. By grounding our models in human data, we enhance traditional genetic analyses and uncover novel genetic modulators of disease. The combination of our Clinical-ML and Cellular-ML platforms are unlocking novel insights and de-risking target and therapeutic hypotheses. Experiments in translatable systems support the validity of these insights.
  3. We have line of sight to the clinic!?We are generating high-quality chemical matter for our first few targets, which are rapidly advancing towards the clinic. Our Chief Medical Officer outlined an exciting approach to clinical development informed by biomarkers, leveraging the same capabilities and insights that drive our discovery work.
  4. Our team continues to create together, delivering exciting science. The presentation of 70 scientific posters and dozens of learning sessions demonstrated the productivity of our insitrocytes, and how our engineers and scientists are closing the mindset gap and learning to speak each other’s language. There was also some healthy competition for poster prizes for most cross-functional, most artistic, most engaging, and catchiest title.?
  5. Our team is growing and our culture is thriving. Throughout the week, we built meaningful connections through affinity lunches, team dinners, a talent show, a scavenger hunt, and even an insitro trivia quiz to top it off. The week culminated in our annual party where we could have fun and celebrate our progress throughout the past year.?
  6. Patients are waiting. ALS patient advocates Brian Wallach and Sandra Abrevaya inspired all of us with their story about living with ALS and how patients can help to drive research forward. Their testimony, alongside clips from their new documentary "For Love and Life: No Ordinary Campaign," brought tears to everyone’s eyes and reinforced our commitment to bring better medicines to patients like Brian. As a fitting capstone, our Founder and CEO Daphne Koller announced a new campaign to support “IAMALS” which resulted in a contribution of $27K, including employee contributions and insitro’s matching donation.

Our inspiring week underscored how our platform strategy and ML-enabled build at insitro are designed to unlock novel therapeutic hypotheses, derisk them by combining orthogonal insights, and rapidly advance these insights to help patients – and to leverage our robust platforms to do it again and again, getting better over time.?

Huge appreciation to the People team who spearheaded the event and to the many other insitrocytes who helped make this week so exciting and inspiring. And massive thanks to our entire team, who work with boldness and urgency to make insitro’s vision a reality and transform the future of medicine as we head into our next chapter and beyond!
