Celebrating Service & Leadership

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” - Anne Frank

Good Sunday morning all and welcome to this edition (No. 34) of "With That Said" (WTS), a LinkedIn newsletter powered by your friends here at Supply Chain Now . Yesterday, May 20th, was Armed Forces Day here in the United States. Each year, we set aside the 3rd Saturday of May to honor those currently serving our country.

The White House released a statement, which included:

"On Armed Forces Day, we honor all the members of our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard and Reserve forces.?United by a common call to serve, these brave patriots not only comprise the finest fighting force the world has ever known but also represent the very best of our Nation. Today, less than 1 percent of Americans currently wear the uniform — stepping up to defend the other 99 percent of our Nation with honor and courage.?Through trials and testing as well as dangers and deployments, our service members remain resilient and resolved in their mission.?They — and their families, caregivers, and survivors — also shoulder unique burdens, serving and sacrificing for our Nation’s core values:?freedom, democracy, and liberty."

On that note, we wanted to take a minute to celebrate our Veteran Voices programming, led by Mary Kate S. . The SCN team is dedicated to serving our Veteran community, delivering on a commitment that Scott Luton made to himself as he separated from the United States Air Force in 2002. And a big part of serving our Veterans is amplifying their experiences, their journey, their challenges and their voices. The SCN team invests in this pro bono programming and partners with a couple of Veteran-led non-profits to make it happen:

Of course, you can find Veteran Voices wherever you get your podcasts from. Here are a few recent episodes:

One final thought today: Scott recently attended Supply Chain USA in Chicago, which was hosted by Reuters Events: Supply Chain . He led two panel discussions, as well as a fireside chat - - all made up of exceptional thought-leaders & executive practitioners doing big things in industry. Look for the replays coming soon. One of the many "moments of brilliance" shared throughout the discussions was this paraphrased remark by Edmund Zagorin with Arkestro : "As leaders, we must run to & address the pain & the problems across the enterprise so we can make our team members' lives better."

Well said, Edmund. Let's all embrace that & put it into practice. Deeds...not words!
