October is a month I always look forward to, not just because of the beautiful Fall colors and fun of Halloween, but also because it marks the celebration of RVT Month across Canada. While National Veterinary Technician Week is still celebrated in the USA during the 3rd week of October, I'm thrilled that we now have a whole month dedicated to recognizing the incredible talents and hard work of our vet techs and nurses.
As an emergency and critical care specialist, I wholeheartedly acknowledge that I couldn't provide the highest level of care to our patients in the ICU without my outstanding vet tech team members. Their contributions have been immeasurable; they've caught my mistakes, alerted me to critical patient situations, and bailed me out countless times. I'll forever be grateful for their unwavering commitment to our profession, despite not often receiving the appreciation they deserve.
In this newsletter, we're sharing valuable resources aimed at preventing burnout among our vet techs/nurses, offering guidance on how to express genuine appreciation for your team members, and taking a moment to express gratitude to those who tirelessly keep our veterinary hospitals running smoothly. I am also honored to present a wellbeing webinar for the Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC) tomorrow, which you can register for below.?
And thanks to sponsorship from VetBadger, in honor of RVT Month and National Vet Tech Week, we are hosting a draw for free registration to our online program From Toxic to Terrific (November 2023). This contest is open to all vet techs and nurses and will be of particular interest to those who are in leadership roles, including team leads and practice/hospital managers. You can enter the draw until 11:59 PM PT on Saturday October 21st.?
Let's make sure to celebrate and honor our vet techs and nurses, not just during this special month but throughout the entire year!
Warmly,
