Celebrating the Resilience of Ukrainian Heroes through Art and Solidarity
Organizing Ukraine Relief Foundation (O.U.R. Foundation)
Together We Have the Power to Heal Shattered Lives, and We’re Doing Something About It
Our founder Polina Buryakov-Alexiou and the brave soldiers under the care of O.U.R. Foundation attended a deeply moving event at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York. The event featured the presentation of the book “Wartime Posters” 2022-2023 and an inspiring Polish and Ukrainian artists group show. This remarkable book, created under challenging conditions in Ukraine, showcases the work of 29 contemporary artists from Poland and Ukraine, who have used their art to document war crimes, counter false Russian propaganda, and celebrate the resilience of the Ukrainian spirit.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine and the General Consul of Poland, along with many members of the community. Our soldiers received a standing ovation, which served as a powerful tribute to their courage and resilience. This moment deeply touched everyone present and underscored the solidarity shared by all in attendance.
The panel discussion that followed was moderated by Katya Soldak , the New York-based journalist and editorial director of Forbes Media's international editions. The discussion featured insights from Olena Speranska , author of “Wartime Posters” and an experienced art manager, who shared the challenges and triumphs of creating this book during the ongoing war. Gennadiy Kozub, the curator of the project and a key figure in the Ukrainian contemporary art scene, provided a compelling account of organizing 24 poster exhibitions in the frontline city of Zaporizhzhya.
The evening concluded with a captivating musical performance, which our soldiers had the pleasure of enjoying, adding an uplifting end to an already emotionally charged event.
We extend our thanks to the organizers, artists, project curators, and everyone involved in making this event possible. Special thanks to the Consul General of Poland, Mateusz Sakowicz, and Nataliia Musiienko , Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine, for their dedication to defending freedom and democracy through art. Your efforts in bringing this powerful exhibition and discussion to life are both inspiring and essential.
This event not only showcased the power of art in times of war but also underscored the importance of community and support in the healing process. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful occasion and for the continued support of those who stand with us in our mission to empower Ukrainian war amputees.
Thank you to everyone who made this night unforgettable. Together, we continue to build a future full of hope, resilience, and creativity.
